Here is another issue. The UE spider diff cups are 8mm. Savage dog bones are 9mm as well as the Fast Lane extended arm dog bones. So if you want to use spider diffs you’re going to need to do something about the diff cups being 8mm. I did not see 9mm dif cups on UE’s web site. The Savage diff cups are to long for Spider diffs, they cause a lot of slop. Any other thought on this foks?

Actually the ball diameter is 8mm on our dog bones. We changed this later on in production and did not have any issues with them this way.
We will be making drive cups in the future that will correct any issues with the Savage diff.

Moving the pinion in 1.8mm will potentially cause another problem, the drive cup may not be able to work. Because the pin will not be able to go through the hole on the pinion. These are some things that will need to be worked out.
For the driveshaft I do not think 1.8mm will not cause any problems. But if it did we will make one that will work.

As for the TypeB bulkless. We are going to base it upon feedback. Sure the diff will be able to be removed while on the truck, but will it be worth the extra money? These are some things we are looking at. Mainly if people want it we will make it.

It seems the best thing to do is build a seperate Hybrid from stock for buggy style gears only.

@admin;

The shafts on the pinions of the UE/Ofna 1/8th diffs don't use holes that go thru, the cup just uses a setscrew to hold on to the pinion.

As Serum said, the UE/Ofna pinions doesnt have the hole for the screw.

And I strongly agree that you design a hybrid from stock to accept the 1/8 gears instead of Type B bulkless. Most of the ppl use the Savage for bashing and they are used to tearing down the Savage to change/inspect the oil and gears.

I have been wanting to get these done more than anyone else here. We had to just work ourselves out of the hole we were in (high production levels). And now that we have we can get back to finishing them.
I am not setting any time frame but if can stay on track it will be Monday and they will be shipping out.

So far the first batch will be for the stock set-up, unless someone were to contact me here in a few hours or by the morning. Because by then I will be finishing that operation which will be the last operation.

So good news. I will be shipping all preordered Hybrids tomorrow. And any other orders that will come through.

I am hoping to have some pics up tonight of the finished product and also the install on my Savage. If not tonight definately tomorrow.

So I'm one of the lucky ones to have pre-ordered my bulkless systems for my Savage project. I plan on using Spider diffs in these. Other them the 1.8mm gap is there any thing else I should consider.
When is the plan for bulkless systems excepting 1/8 scale buggy diffs with no mods. And if there is, any one want my bulkless setups when they come in?. Because I will not be using stock HPI diff's they suck. (For racing any way) MPO

the other thing besides the 1.8mm is described in this thread allready.

The savage diffs can be made SOOOOOOO strong..

Use the hotbodies C8019 cup and a set of good gears, with some shim plates inside the diff and a few other shims to align the gears perfect, those savage diffs are topnotch... just a matter of tweaking buddy..!

Yeah, They are real strong in Fast Lane Machine "FLM" cups too. Plus they have a warranty if anything wears or breaks they will be replaced at a minimal cost.

OK.
Got the pics up. You can see a few different angles along with a partial assembly on the home page. Under the Savage section you will find one picture along with the price and a few details.

Let us know what you think.

Fastlane has done it again! These Bulkless pieces are a great innovation and I will be putting a set of these on my next Savage along with the diff cups and tvps. Are there still plans to make some easy access bulkless housings?

Thanks,

Dustin

My FLM Savage is now looking like a truck. Nice job on the bulkless sys. I do want to add some input seeing how these beauties are a new product to your line up. I had to grind down some of the section that sits next to the steering. This is above the pinion gear drive cup. Right ware the screw goes above the bearing. I also had to grind down my steering brace. If you not to careful you can cut your self on the edges ware the screws go in there is a nice sharp edge. Some savings were inside but after a little clean up, man there nice looking once there in the truck
